Steve is a Chartered Engineer and a Chartered IT Professional. Chartered Engineers can only
be appointed in the UK by the Engineering
Council, it is the highest recognition of competence
to which a practicing professional engineer can aspire.
In order to achieve and demonstrate the required level of competence Steve had to get an accredited degree, six years experience in industry and pass an assessment panel. This ensured the appropriate level of competence to join the British Computer Society and become a Chartered Engineer and a Chartered IT Professional.

Steve and Simon
both have significant experience gained during their period
in industry, first with ICL then with Fujitsu.
Steve and Simon were both ICL Distinguished engineers when they worked for ICL. This honour was only awarded to engineers who had made a significant contribution to the business and engineering excellence. The number of ICL Distinguished Engineers was limited to less than 100 engineers across the world at any one time, in an organisation of 15,000.
